Rion NL-42 & NL-52


All Purpose Sound Level Monitoring from Rion

The NL-42 and NL-52 Sound Level Meters are designed with a full colour three-inch LCD screen for ease of use. They are water resistant, use rechargeable batteries and can record sound data for up to one month.

Both units are capable of measuring A, C and Z frequency weighted measurements with either F (Fast) or S (Slow) time weightings. Along with the following values and statistics:

  • Instantaneous SPL: Lp
  • Equivalent continuous SPL: Leq
  • Sound Exposure Level: Le
  • Maximum SPL: Lmax
  • Minimum SPL: Lmin
  • Percentile sound levels: Ln (0.1% to 99.9% in 0.1 increment steps. Max 5 values)

The Rion NL-42 and NL-52 are water resistant to a rating of IP54.

Optional Software/Functions

NX-42EX The -EX option enables continuous long-term measurement in Lp and Leq mode over user selectable statistical intervals. The -EX option also enables communication via the unit's RS-232C serial interface as well as the comparator function, which allows the user to set a predetermined sound pressure level at which a voltage is output via the serial interface jack.

When you purchase an NL-42 or NL-52 with the -EX option pre-installed, a 512MB SD card is included to allow for long-term logging sessions.

The -EX option is required to be installed before any of the other following options (-RT, -WR, -FT, -RV)

NX-42RT The -RT option enables the unit to function as 1/1 and 1/3 Octave Band Analyser. The -RT option allows the unit to log octave data in both 1/1 and 1/3 bandwidths.

NX-42WR The -WR option enables high resolution audio recording of up to 24bit audio at 48kHz. The audio recorded can be played back via a computer or can be used with Rion's audio waveform post processing software AS-70 for further analysis.

NX-42FT The -FT option enables FFT (Fast-Fourier-Transform) analysis with a resolution of 8000 spectrum lines and a maximum zoom of x40. Recorded FFT graphs can be saved to the unit's SD card for analysis at a later date.

NX-42RV The -RV option enables reverberation time measurement. This option allows the user to measure and view reverberation time for T20/T30 and Txx (user defined interval) calculations as well as save the reverberation time-decay curves to the SD card.

Logging Kit

The NL series sound level meters (NL-42, NL-52, NL-62) are available from ARL with an optional logging kit that extends the capabilities of the sound level meter's to become a fully featured noise logger.
